Mrs. Cylista Louvenia McNeely Brady, 80, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at her son's residence. Born October 8, 1940 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Capius McNeely and Evelyn Torrence McNeely. Educated in the Rowan County public schools system, she graduated from J.C. Price High School, Class of 1957. Mrs. Brady graduated from Livingstone College and furthered her education at North Carolina Central University and Appalachian State University. She obtained her Master's Degree in Special Education. She was employed with the Mooresville City School System and retired after 38 years of service. She later worked at Rowan Cabarrus Community College and the Rowan-Salisbury Community Action Agency as a GED instructor. Mrs. Brady was a faithful member of Sills Creek AME Zion church. She was active in several capacities while there. She was a former Steward Board Member, current Head of the Stewardess Board, current Leader of Leaders, current member of the Deaconess Board, former member of the Noble Spiritual Singers, former Director of the Buds of Promise, former Assistant Church Historian, former Director of Vacation Bible School, former Church Secretary and former Church Treasurer. She was a proud member of the Alpha Alpha Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Lemuel Brady of the home; children, Patrick Lipscomb (Faith) of Salisbury, Timmy Brady of High Point, Raymondo Brady (Menika) of Denver; niece, Candace McNeely, reared in the home; brothers, James McNeely (Margaret) of Rome, NY, and Harry McNeely of N. Wilkesboro; sister, Myra Cuthbertson of Salisbury; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
