Joshua Mitchell Buss died suddenly, Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 29 years, two months and three days.

Josh was born January 17, 1992 to Steve and Colleen (Mitchell) Buss. As a child, Josh loved to build things and always dreamed of being a cowboy. He was home educated through high school and graduated from the welding program at Southeast Technical College. As an adult, he worked for Dick’s Country Meats in Irene, SD.

He married his beautiful wife, Melinda Hernandez on July 8, 2017. Their baby girl, Gracie, was born in 2018. He loved being a husband and picking on his wife. Josh was so very proud of being a daddy and delighted in talking about the funny things his Gracie said or did.

Josh loved cooking and grilling and smoking meat. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping, especially campfire cooking. His great joy was to have company at his home and to grill steaks with all the fixings.

Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Melinda Buss; daughter, Gracie Buss; parents, Steve and Colleen Buss; his six sisters and their families, Rachel (Brandon) Dreesen of Slayton, MN, Dakota Buss of Beresford, SD, Stefenie (Mike) Smith of Rock Valley, MN, Elison (Mike) Elter of Neenah, WI, Amanda (Scott) Flewelling of Remsen, IA and Abby Buss of Onowa, IA; his grandparents, Leonard and Jan Mitchell of Sioux Falls, SD and Lorraine Buss of Beresford, formerly of Worthington, MN; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. His grandpa Don Buss preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be 10AM Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church in Beresford with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family requests that Covid-19 guidelines be followed; the service will be live streamed at https://brooklynefc.org/. Visitation will be 7-9PM Friday, Mar. 26th at the church with a prayer service at 7PM.
