Married Elizabeth Starr at Wilmington, Union Twp, Clinton County, Ohio 13 April 1817 ~ Daniel Jones, shoemaker by trade, settled in Wilmington in 1817, and built a log house on the lot now occupied by the residence of the late Judge R. B. Harlan. He had first worked here in 1811. He was a zealous member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He had first worked here in 1811. He was a zealous member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and was a member of the first class organized in Wilmington. He manufactured boots and shoes quite extensively, having at times as many as six men in his employ. ~ Daniel was living with his daughter, Mrs. Catherine Walton, in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri at time of his death, Wife Elizabeth had already passed away. He died in St. Louis in the eighty second year of his age of thypoid pneumonia, and was brought to Wilmington and interred in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
