DR. WILLIAM SCHOFIELD JR.
November 21, 1959 - July 19, 2014 (age 54)

DR. WILLIAM SCHOFIELD JR. William Jay Schofield Jr., 54, of Las Vegas passed away suddenly July 19, 2014, in Alamo. He was born Nov. 21, 1959, to Jay and Bonnie Schofield in Caliente. Bill was raised in Las Vegas and Hiko and graduated from the University of Nevada-Reno Medical School before establishing his medical practice in Henderson. He married his former wife, Laurie Heaton, while in college and they are the parents of six children. Bill was a gifted and well-respected internist who loved his patients and staff and was in-turn loved by them. Dr. Schofield was renowned for his diagnostic abilities and received many honors throughout his career. Bill was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in several leadership positions. Bill's philosophy was to live life to the fullest. He felt blessed and fortunate to have found his eternal companion, Shelley Garrett, with whom he was able to share his love of travel, adventure and service for the past 12 years. Although they shared a blended family, there was never "his" or "hers," it was always "ours." A highlight of his life was spending time with his entire family, who the grandchildren affectionately referred to as "Papa Bill." He was always young at heart and used any excuse to take family and friends to Disneyland or Hawaii, two of his favorite places. He was preceded in death by grandson, Grayson Phillips. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Shelley; parents, Jay and Bonnie; siblings, Julie (Marshall) Davis, Karen Robinson and Robert (Trish) Schofield; and children, Rikki (Erik) Phillips, William III "Trae" (Brianna), Charles "Kelly," Robert "Ryan" (Paula), Skyler and Jesse; and stepchildren, Alisha (Josh) Brandon, Carli (Dan) Sandoval and Christy (Zach) Martin; and 17 grandchildren. Viewing will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 25. Viewing again 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26, with services following at 11 a.m., all at the LDS Robindale Chapel, 7670 S. Bruce St., Las Vegas. Burial will follow at Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
