Ethel Alexander, age 94, of Cadiz, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020, at Shady Lawn Nursing & Rehabilitation in Cadiz. Born October 3, 1925, in Trigg County, she was the daughter of the late Furman Knox and Madeline Elizabeth (Mitchell) Joiner.

Ethel worked for many years as a seamstress for Elk Brand Manufacturing in Cadiz and later as a housekeeper for Lake Barkley Lodge. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, and tending to her flower garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Layton Alexander; a grandson, Rodney Chris Dixon; a brother, Dewey Mitchell; and a sister, Flossie Garner.

She is survived by:
two sons, Marcellious (Ramona) Alexander and Roy Alexander;

a daughter, Lawon (Don) Dixon, all of Cadiz;

four grandchildren, LaDonna (Andy) Anderson, Hollis (Denise) Alexander, Lannie (Demetria) Alexander, and Sara (Matt) Ladd;

ten great-grandchildren, A.J. (Taea) Anderson, Rachel Anderson, Katherine (Jared) Goodman, Morgan (Terry) Meacham, A.J. (Shyanne) Oliver, Jeremy (Madison) Alexander, McKenzie P. Alexander, Margaret Alexander, Claire Ladd, and Matt A. Ladd;

nine great-great-grandchildren, Jackson Hendricks, KayLee Hendricks, Layton K. Hendricks, Brayden Goodman, Brent Goodman, Joe C. Goodman, Alec Goodman, Ava Meacham, and Layton Meacham;

a sister, Mary Katherine Behm of Allen Park, Michigan;

a brother, Killous K. Joiner of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and

a sister-in-law, Eleanor Wood of Cadiz.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, KY where the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service time of 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2020, with Bro. James Shuck and Mr. Hollis Alexander officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in Cadiz.
