DIED: Gillrup - In this city, Wednesday evening, Mary 25, 1892 of consumption. Lillian I., wife of Victor Gillrup, aged 39 years, 11 months and 6 days.
She was born near Beaver Dam, Wis. When quite young, she removed to Freeborn county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.H. Carter, who settler near Twin Lakes, where her mother now resides. She was married to Mr. V. Gillrup, July __, 1872 and ______five children, Hattie, Frank, Harry, Walter and Genevieve: two children preceded her to the "_________ country,"_______ age ___ years and Helen 3 months old. Mrs. Gillrup's name is recorded as having been received into full membership by Rev. James G. Teter (sp?) Feb. 6, ?. Since then she has remained a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church. She has had poor health through my administration, but when she able to attend divine worship, she was an attentive listener to the word of God, she has not been able to attend since the last of November, 1891, but for weeks before this occured I had ____ a marked development of spirtiual live and enjoyment. During her illness I inquired of her spiritual life, and the answer was satisfactory to me, so I concluded all was well. About four weeks before her death, she was very weak, ___ the __th of April was the pastor's birthday, and she very kindly remembered him with a token of her friendship which was very highly appreciated, and will be ________ _____after her decease.
"Sister, thee was mild and lovely,
Gentle as the summer breeze:
Pleasant as the air of evening
When it ____ among the trees.
ALFRED CR-----Y, Pastor.
The STANDARD further records the opinions of those who knew her best in awarding her a most gentle, loving and exalted womanly character. Her nature was retiring, her chief ambition and enjoyment being in contributing to the welfare and happiness of her home circle. She ruled by love, and this potent influence is stamped forever for good on her children, and has left an impress on all her friends. She was a loyal and devoted wife, mother and friend, and in higher spheres will continue her gentle mission and help to prepare thehome to which she will welcome those she loves so well. Rev. Alfred Cr-----y delivered the sermon, the choir sang pieces favored by the departed and a large congregation was present. The remains were conveyed to Glenville, escorted by several carriages containing the family and intimate friends, where the last resting place was made by the side of the two children gone before.
