Bernard Lamar McDaniel, 72, of Lyons, lost his battle with cancer August 4, 2020 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Born in Tattnall County he was a son of Robert McDaniel and Hattie Lou Cooper McDaniel Lively. He lived in Cobbtown until 1975 and then moved to Toombs County. He was a 1966 graduate of Collins High School. Mr. McDaniel was a Baptist and a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War as a helicopter crew chief with the unit Black Cat. He worked at Chickasha M.H. and then he retired from Plant Hatch four years ago where he worked as an insulator. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Doc Lively, brothers; Smutty, Leonard, Tobe, Eddie and an infant sister Mary Alice, father-in-law; Warnell Kersey, favorite ma-n-law Ms. Frankie.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Genie Kersey McDaniel of Lyons; son, Del McDaniel of Cobbtown; daughter, April McFadden of Lyons; brother, Joker (Julie) McDaniel of Statesboro; sister, JoAnn Marsh of Winston, Ga; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Jarriel; grandchildren, Sheldon and Cameron McDaniel, Jaxson, Bentley and Jordan McFadden.

Visitation will be held, Thursday August 6, 2020 from 5-7 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, of Cobbtown.

The graveside service will be Thursday August 6, at 7 o’clock in the evening at Sunlight Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Donations to Community Hospice of Vidalia: 904 Mt. Vernon Road, Vidalia, GA 30474.
