John proudly served in the United States Navy. He was employed as a millwright for Fridgedaire Corporation in Greenville until his retirement. Believing the U.P. was God's country, John and Mary moved to the Curtis area in 1994.
John enjoyed collecting coins, unusual lighters, and eagles. He loved to fish and hunt, and tinker around. John built many model ships back in the day.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his son Johnni Houseman, siblings David Houseman, Russel Houseman, Beverly Houseman, and step-son Woody Moore.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Mary Houseman of Curtis; daughters Conni Houseman of Winn, Kimberli Houseman of Grand Rapids, and son David Houseman of Rhode Island; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, sister Patricia Sewell Johnson of Perry; step-sons Ricky (Susan) Womble of Maple Rapids, Randy Womble of Lansing and Greg (Bert) Moore of Curtis.
Per request, cremation services were accorded. A family graveside service will take place at a later date at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Curtis.
