Obituary for Anita Marie Becker
Anita Marie Becker, 78-year-old Miami, Oklahoma, resident passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020 in Joplin, Missouri.
Anita was born on August 6, 1941 in Hamburg, Germany, to Walter & Elizabeth (Mast) Klaus. She & her family relocated to the states & moved to Chicago, Illinois where she met the love of her life, John Becker. John & Anita shared wedding vows & were joined in holy marriage on May 28, 1960. They resided in Skokie, Illinois, where they raised their 3 children.
Anita was a housewife, mother, and volunteer. She worked at the local elementary school supervising the students on the playground. She also served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and was a Girl Scout Leader.
In 1975, the family moved to Miami, Oklahoma to become business partners with her sister’s family in a motel business. Anita loved to learn, so she began her education at NEO studying nursing. She worked at Miami Baptist Hospital as a Registered Nurse her entire career until she retired.
Anita loved to travel across seas with her husband. She loved the beauty of the different countries & the experience of various cultures. She enjoyed bird watching from her back porch, & especially loved watching her Purple Martins. Anita enjoyed working in her flower garden, crocheting, & swimming. Most of all, Anita loved being with her family. Her children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren were held near to her heart. She had many tea parties with her littles & had her home filled with pictures of each one of them.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Elizabeth Klaus; two brothers, Walter Klaus & Reinhard Klaus and his wife Elaine; and two sisters Elfrieda Kilian and Elizabeth Rothe.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John Becker; three children, John Becker Jr. and wife Tammy of Miami, Oklahoma, Susan Panter and husband Kevin of Miami, Oklahoma, and Steve Becker and wife Holly of Coffeyville, Kansas; one brother-in-law, Bert Kilian; one sister-in-law, Hedwig Klaus; 8 grandchildren, John Tyler Becker and wife Alicia, Keylie Dawn Baldwin and her husband Cord, Calvin Becker and wife Sasha, Kyrie Rae Fairweather and her husband Chase, Nicholas Becker, Cameron Becker, Zachary Becker, and Alissa Terrapin; and 7 great grandchildren; John Ryne Becker, Colton Becker, Callen Gene Baldwin, Cyler Dean Baldwin, J Frazier Fairweather, Taegan Grace Becker, and Zoey Becker.
A funeral mass for Anita was held at 10:00am, Thursday, June 18th, 2020 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami, Oklahoma.
