Edith M. (Ritter) Whiting of Plymouth passed away peacefully on September 27, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Rogers Whiting. Born in Worcester MA on May 22, 1925, Edith was the eldest child of the late Hilma (Smythe) and Karl Ritter. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Nursing, Edith enjoyed her career as a registered nurse at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth for over 40 years. Along with savoring the outdoors and preserving her husband's fruits and vegetables from his annual gardens, Edith was also an enthusiastic piano player. She was a gifted artisan who was well known locally for her hand-knit children's sweaters and Christmas stockings. Edith and her husband loved cruising the Caribbean and visiting Europe in their later years. Edith is survived by her children: Jan W. Whiting and his wife Joyce of Halifax, David S. Whiting and his wife Marie of Plymouth, Susan W. DiFazio and her late husband Donald of Weymouth and Kathryn W. Licata and her husband Frank of Andover. She was the cherished grandmother of 10 and the loving great-grandmother of 11. Edith was the sister of the late Karla Cagianello and Robert Ritter.
