Wayne Ellsworth Deane, born May 25, 1938 in Monroe, WA to Ellsworth “Bub” and Wilma “Peanuts” Deane, he peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on February 4, 2015 at Providence Regional Medical Center, Everett. He was 76.

Wayne graduated from Sultan High School, Class of 1956. He proudly served his country in the US Navy with the Mobile Construction Battalion (Seabees) and was stationed in both Hawaii and Kodiak Alaska . On New Year’s Day, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Anita Nerbo. Together they have three children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was a redi-mix driver in his younger years and later became manager of Star Concrete in Everett, WA. For the last thirty years he has been the owner/operator of Construction Services, Incorporated and Monroe Materials and U-Haul and in recent years loved working alongside his eldest grandchild Cori who viewed him not only as grandpa, but also mentor, co-pilot, and best friend. He retired in July 2014. All that knew him in his younger years envied his beautiful vegetable gardens and in his later years he enjoyed dinners out with his wife, playing bingo at the casinos, family get-togethers, and cold beers with his son Kyle. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and making memories with his great-grandchildren whom he adored. He was a strong, quiet, kind, and loving man and will be sorely missed by his family and all those that knew him.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Anita Deane, daughters Jana Drivstuen (Rusty) of Sultan and Joni Skinner (John) of Monroe, and son Kyle Deane (Jodi) of Monroe, his grandchildren Cori Deane (Ashley), Dani Inthavongsy (Adam), Chelsea Drivstuen (Shawn), Kaylee Skinner and his great-grandchildren Haidyn, Carter, Casen, and another great-grandchild on the way. He also leaves behind brother Victor Deane of Monroe, sister Sharon Clark of Sedro-Woolley and many loving cousins. He was preceded in death by both parents and his brother Darrell Deane. Visitation will be on Monday, February 9, from 11am-5pm, at Purdy & Kerr with Dawson Funeral Home, 409 W. Main St., Monroe. Wayne will be laid to rest with a private family service at Sultan Cemetery.
