Sarah Whitney born in Dutchess County, New York, April 17th, 1790; married May 3rd, 1806, in Dutchess County, William Newton, a blacksmith, of the same county; concerning whom nothing is known, but the fact that, in 1809, he deserted Sarah and their two children. She then married for the 2nd time on December 24, 1817, at Starkey, New York, Bartholomew Tarney, a farmer, born in Sussex County, New Jersey, about 1800, son of Matthew and Abiah (Rapalje) Tarney. They dwelt at Starkey, and afterward at Milo, New York, where she died the 4th of September, 1822, and was buried (whereabouts unknown to me). He remained living at Bath New York in July, 1875.
