KUMPULA, LeRoy Hjalmer, LeRoy was born on September 6, 1920 in Wakefield, Mich. He passed away June 24, 2012 in Tucson, AZ. LeRoy is survived by five daughters, 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. LeRoy was a WWII veteran who proudly served his country as a United States Marine. LeRoy had been a longtime resident of Arizona, having moved his family from Michigan to San Manuel in 1955 where he worked at the smelter. He moved to Tucson in 1981 after retiring from the smelter. After retirement he kept himself busy as a volunteer at the Northwest Hospital. LeRoy is now at home in heaven where he joins his beloved wife of 58 years; two of his children and a grandson who have gone before him. Some people have come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same again. LeRoy was one of those rare and special people. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at HEATHER MORTUARY with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
