Miss Bernadette Herr Married
Miss Bernadette Herr, an Edina girl, was married at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Jan. 6, to Vern W. Nelson of Los Angeles, Calif., at the parsonage of St. Agnes' Church there by the Rev. James, McGovern. They were attended by Miss Bernice DeGouna and Hal Schroeder. Mrs. Nelson, who is the only daughter of John C. Herr of Kansas City, and a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed McGinnis, Sr., and Mrs. Elizabeth Herr of Edina, was raised here and graduated from St. Joseph's School in the class of 1925. Following her graduation she attended Loretto Academy in Kansas City. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson are employed by the Periodical Sales Company of Chicago, for whom they have been traveling and will continue to travel.

Former Bernadette Herr Died In California
Mrs. Mary Bernadette O'Keefe, 61, of Kansas City, the former Miss Bernadette Herr, who was born and reared at Edina, died Tuesday, March 25, 1969, of a heart attack or stroke while on vacation at Bakersfield, Calif. The body was returned to Kansas City where funeral services were at 10 o'clock Friday morning at St. James Catholic Church. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery there. She is survived by several aunts and uncles, including Mrs. Mary Knapp of Edina. She was born March 30, 1907, a daughter and one of the three children of the late John Christian and Bernadette McGinnis Herr and is the last of the immediate family. She was a 1925 graduate of the St. Joseph School here and afterwards attended the Loretto Academy in Kansas City. She was a bookkeeper for Bill Fagan, Inc., at Kansas City at the time of her death and was a member of Women in Construction. Her mother died in 1910 and her father, July 3, 1948. Se was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fred H. and John Herbert (Jack) Herr. The latter died Oct. 18, 1960. Her husband, Jack O'Keefe, died in 1951.
