Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Arcola United Methodist Church with Rev. Matt Stump officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, rural Oakland. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola.
Alice was born July 5, 1943 in Tuscola, the daughter of Jesse Dean and Clara Erlene Smith Motley. She married Michael Carl Butler in Denver, Colorado on June 10, 1961; a union of 58 years.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Butler of Arcola; 4 sons, David Butler (Kay Holley) of Urbana; Eric (Tina) Butler of Oakland; Jason (Jenni) Butler of Arcola; Jonathon (Alicia) Butler of Normal; sister, Phyllis Humes of Hindsboro; 6 grandchildren, Noah, Erica, Jacob, Zachary, Quinn, and Delaney Butler; 2 step grandchildren, Kayti (Brent) Kawachi; Nathan (Elizabeth) Holley; 4 great grandchildren, Dante, Finley, Kira, and Lena.
She was preceded in death by grandson, Chase Kustowski; and brother, Wallace Motley.
Alice was a graduate of Oakland High School. She was an Avon Representative for 15 years, worked at Dimond Brothers Insurance Agency for 4 years, and worked at the Arcola Public Library for many years. She also served as a Cub Scout den mother.
Alice was an active member of the Arcola United Methodist Church, where she served as president of the United Methodist Women for several years and coordinated funeral dinners for many years. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, was an avid Cubs fan, and loved to read.
