Catherine was the first wife of George E. Fry (1861-1940). They were married on November 8, 1884 in Bonners Ferry, Boundary, Idaho. Catherine and George had at least six children together including: Robert, Arthur, Christine, Ruth, Albert and Alfred Fry. Catherine married her second husband, Adolph Adams (1873-1937) on October 29, 1909 in Stevens County, Washington. Catherine died at Eastern State Hospital of pulmonary tuberculosis.

Catherine was the daughter of Alexander Berland and Josephine Snake (Kootenai) Berland.
