In 1945 he went to work as an installer for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company, relocating to Nebraska in October of 1946. He remained in the telephone industry for his entire career, rising from installer to ranks of management through industry and self-improvement.
He managed the Northwestern Bell Telephone office in Lexington from 1956 until 1969, and retired from the District Office in Grand Island in 1980.
