Resident of San Jose
On New Year's morning, A.Z. Walker, a longtime resident of San Jose, passed away of natural causes.
A.Z. was born on a farm in Maud, Oklahoma, where he was raised with two brothers and two sisters, working the farm as a family. At an early age, A.Z. learned the value of hard work, a trait that would benefit him his entire life. During his life, he performed many jobs, including oil rigger, truck driver, dockworker, diesel mechanic for FMC tanks, and gas station owner. Eventually, he worked his way up to the position of superintendent of maintenance for 40 schools of the Alum Rock School District. A.Z. was never shy about attempting to fix anything that was defective or stopped working. Hiring a professional to come and repair something at home was truly his last resort. Zeke had a passion for his family, including his beloved pets. His hobbies included fishing, watching boxing, playing darts, bowling, shooting pool, and watching and reading Westerns. A.Z. was married to Shirley Mae Walker for 54 years and is survived by his two sons, Doug and Todd, and two grandchildren, Brian and Nicole.
A.Z. was a kind man with a big heart who made everyone around him feel at ease. He will be missed deeply by his friends and family.
A graveside service will be held at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Road, San Jose, CA on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 12:00 P.M.
