James Murry Belcher was born on February 25, 1882 in Williamson County, Tennessee, the son of James D Belcher and Anne (Stanfield) Belcher.
An automobile mechanic living at 521½ 3rd Avenue North in Nashville, he was 65 years old and single when he died of far-advanced pulmonary TB on March 17, 1947 at Davidson County Tuberculosis Hospital, where he had been for nine days. Burial was the next day in Mount Hope Cemetery, Franklin.
