May 27, 1962 ~ September 29, 2018 (age 56)

Patricia “Trisha” Hopkins Bates, age 56, of Morristown, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital after a 3 month courageous battle with cancer. She was saved at an early age at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Patricia was a strong believer and held on to Him until the very end. She was a manager and assistant manager at many convenient stores in Morristown and White Pine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Palmer “Short” Hopkins and Mildred Hopkins; and brother-in-law, Tim Ford.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Bates; her fur baby, Shasta; sisters, Linda (Carroll) Walker and Edie Ford; aunt, Bonnie Collins; uncle, Gerald (Joyace) Layman; brothers-in-law, J.D. Bates and Claude (Linda) Bates; sisters-in-law, Rosemary (Lloyd) Swenny and Ruby Dunn; special nieces, Leslie Bonderczuk, Tammy (Leonard) Ramsey, and Joann Rines; special nephew, Brad (Jenny) Walker; great niece, Crystal (Freddie)Klepper; Britt- Britt Boatman; great nephews, Hunter and Brayden Bonderczuk, Brice Woods, and several others; special cousins and helpful caregivers, Wanda Noe, Dale Hopkins, and Chad Walker; and many, many more cousins and friends.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Amedysis Home Health and Hospice, Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare nurses, and Jefferson Memorial Hospital nurses and doctors. Also to her cancer doctor, Dr. Schumaker and lung doctor, Dr. Mejia for their care and hope. One nurse at Morristown-Hamblen in particular, Trisha Hurst, for comforting her and becoming her friend. Also to everyone else for the calls, texts, cards, and prayers.

“Goodnight Trisha, we love you and will see you again!”

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 2 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Scott Noe and Rev. T.H. Ferrell officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 3 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Food Pantry.
