William was born in McComb and lived there all of his life until he enlisted in the US Marines on 15 October 1968, at a recruiting office in Jackson.
Arriving in Vietnam 5 May 1970, William was assigned to the 3rd Platoon of Hotel Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. A platoon from Hotel Company was on a patrol 6 kilometers east northeast of the An Hoa Airfield when the Marines were engaged by hostile forces. William died as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds to the body from a hostile rocket propelled grenade.
Survived by his parents, Julius C, Sr and Nelline S Andrews and brother, Julius Jr of 1401 Delaware Avenue, McComb, Mississippi.
