Mr. Bowles was born in Littleton on October 29, 1920, the son of Harold Little and Caroline (Brownlie) Bowles.
Raised in Franconia, he was a graduate of Dow Academy, Franconia and attended the University of New Hampshire graduating in 1942. He was a member of the ATO fraternity. Mr. Bowles served in the Navy during WWII as a supply officer and later attained the rank of Lt. Commander.
In1947, he married Shirley Murphy. He was long-time resident of Lancaster and for 36 years was the District Manager in northern New Hampshire and Vermont for the NH-VT Blue Cross and Blue Shield. While in Lancaster he served on the Lancaster and White Mountains Regional High School Boards for several years and was a member of the Lancaster Zoning Board and the Lancaster Development Corporation.
Mr. Bowles was a past president of Rotary and a member of the VFW, the Prospect Ski Club, and the Lancaster Historical Society. He was a former member of the American Legion and the Elks and for many years he served as a Director and Secretary of the Lancaster Fair.
He was a communicant of All Saints Church, Lancaster.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Murphy) Bowles.
Burial with military honors followed in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
