Clyde Sewell Thornton, 83, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Elbert Memorial Hospital. A native of Elberton, he was the son of the late Jamie Bowman and Mary Rebecca Todd Thornton. Mr. Thornton was self-employed in the granite industry, and was a member of Middleton United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Alice Nichols, Wilma Floyd, and Marion Hosea; and one brother, David Thornton.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Haley Thornton; five children: Perry Thornton, Allyson Thornton, Rhonda Cleveland, Byron Walters and Ron Walters; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two sisters: Jane Nichols and Brenda Rice; and two brothers, Edmund Thornton and John Thornton.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Middleton United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Middleton United Methodist Church.
