Louis H. Schuster, 92, of Callaway, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born on March 31, 1929 on a farm south of Callaway, to Felix and Clara (Wistuba) Schuster. Louis attended public schools in Callaway and graduated from Callaway High School with the class of 1947.

On August 14, 1952, Louis enlisted into the United States Army 2nd Infantry. He served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on June 8, 1954.

Following his discharge, Louis returned home to the family farm and cared for his parents until they passed. On May 28, 1989, Louis was united in marriage to Joan (Pearson) Eastwood and six adult children came with the marriage, Gary, Alan, Patty, Dean, Connie and Bonnie. Louis embraced the large family and loved them as his own. Louis and Joan lived on the family farm before moving into town.

Louis had a passion for farming and ranching. He enjoyed being a pilot and owning and flying his own plane. Louis and Joan also enjoyed working together restoring furniture, cars and tractors. He was always busy learning new things and spending time in his shop. He loved his family and being entertained by his children and grandchildren.

He was a dedicated member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Callaway and was a member of the American Legion Bryson-Booker Post #59 and Flatlander Car Club.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Joan of Callaway; children, Gary (Trudy) Eastwood of Callaway, Allan (Jan) Eastwood of Callaway, Patty (Bob) Olson of North Platte, Dean (Kathy) Eastwood of North Platte, Connie (Brad) Nansel of Arnold and Bonnie Eastwood of Arnold; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren; brother, Norman (Betty) Schuster of Phillips; sister, Carolyn Farina of St. Louis, Missouri and sister-in-law, Betty Schuster of Kearney; as well as six nieces and nephews and eight great-nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Magruder and brother, Francis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Callaway.

Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Callaway American Legion Bryson-Booker Post # 59 in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.
