She was married briefly when she was much younger. She never had children. She attended an international librarian conference in Rome in 1964. She met William MacLachlan at the Portofinio South condominium in West Palm Beach. They married May 31, 1986 at West Palm Beach. William died only 7 weeks after Lillian's passing.
