Deane “Bucky” Sagmoe, age 76, of Hendricks, MN passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in the Hendricks Hospital. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Faith Brethren Lutheran Church in Hendricks, MN. Burial will be in the Hendricks City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday one hour prior to the service at the church. The Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel, in Hendricks is entrusted with the arrangements.

Deane “Bucky” Sagmoe was born on October 16, 1941 to Kenneth and Fern (Christensen) Sagmoe in Brookings County, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was raised in the Hendricks area and graduated from Hendricks High School in 1959, where he was active in baseball, football, basketball and track. After working at the Hendricks Farmers Lumber Company he enrolled in college at Mankato State where he played baseball and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1965.

Bucky was united in marriage to Beatta Olson on September 14, 1968. To this union, three daughters were born: Heidi, Jodi and Melissa. From 1965 to 1973, he taught Health and Physical Education in Redwood Falls, MN. He was elected Lincoln County Auditor in 1973, where he served for over 25 years.

After retiring, he then served two terms as County Commissioner from 2000 to 2008.

Bucky suffered from multiple heart problems since the age of 29 and passed away on March 14, 2018 at Hendricks Hospital at the age of 76.

Bucky enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and taking care of his lawns.

He is survived by his wife Beatta Sagmoe, Hendricks, MN; three daughters: Heidi (Darren) Swenson and Jodi Sagmoe, Hendricks, MN, and Missy Sagmoe, Brookings, SD; one grandson, Henry Dean and one sister Donna (Jerry) Kluess, Brookings, SD.

Bucky was preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Fern Sagmoe and one brother, Duane “Pike” (Jean) Sagmoe.
