When he returned from the Navy he was employed by the oil refinery on the Nipomo Mesa. He worked there for 37 years. He retired as an operations foreman.
Herman loved to fish and travel. He owned a boat pretty much his entire adult life. He fished many lakes but loved to spend two to three weeks twice a year at Tahoe Lake. He also loved fishing the local Pacific Ocean waters frequently. Herman loved to travel with his truck, camper, and utility trailer in tow. He and Young traveled into Canada and as far east as Nova Scotia, then down the eastern sea board and returning across the southern states.
Herman is survived by his wife Young Soon Abeloe. He is also survived by his sons Robert, Tony, and Ron, his brother Donald and his cousins Jimmy and Carl along with numerous grand and great grandchildren. He was loved and respected by all.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents Herman Sr. and Mary Abeloe.
A memorial celebration of Herman’s life will be held in the chapel of Dudley Hoffman Mortuary on December 28, 2017 at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am the same date. This will be followed by burial at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
An announcement for a reception after the funeral will be made at the ceremony.
