Verna Marie Welton Bishop, 84, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011, at her home in Radford.

She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Verna was predeceased by her parents, Willis and Mae Gladding Welton; her husband, Harry Elston Bishop; and a son, Philip E. Bishop.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mark A. and Lou Don Bishop of Radford; daughter, Elaine Brooks of Griffin, GA; daughters-in-law, Marsha Pedigo Bishop and Kira G. Bishop; grandchildren and spouses, Teresa and Mike Chambers, Michelle and Alex Jones, Stephen and Laura Bishop, Shaughna Inez Bishop and her partners, Chris Allen and Lerin Kol, Aaron Bishop, Wendy Ritter; and great-grandchildren, Cliff Roberts, Cameron Chambers, Kellen Bishop, Lily Bishop, Madeleine Jones, Juliana Bishop, Cole Bishop, Abigail Jones.

Memorial Services will be held Sunday, November 6, 2011, at 3 pm, at Central United Methodist Church in Radford with Rev. Michael Carter and Rev. Don Shelor officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Central UMC Building Fund, 803 Wadsworth St., Radford, VA 24141.

The Bishop family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
