Pte 26051 Frederick Adams aged 53 of the Royal Defence Corps, formerly of the Bedfords, died at home of a malignant stricture of the oesophagus, having been invalided out of the army in 1917. Born in Leighton Buzzard, by the time he was eleven years old he was a chimney sweep, working for Edward Fensome in Friday Street. He had first enlisted in 1879 and served with the East Surrey Regiment in Gibraltar and Egypt, working at The Swan Hotel as an ostler after twelve years with the colours and then enlisting once again in 1915. Father of Edward George Adams; husband of Edith (née Toms) of 31 Mill Road; son of Sarah Adams.
