Rev. Dan T. Abrahamson Sr., 79, of Buchanan, with the first light dusting of snow, left us and went to be with The Lord on Friday, November 10, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 7, 1938 in Royal Oak, Michigan to the late Theodore S. and Beulah M. (Foster) Abrahamson.

On October 18, 1958, Dan married the love of his life, Bettye F. Robinson at a ceremony in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, after a courtship in Chicago, Illinois.

Dan graduated high school and furthered his education by receiving several certifications while employed at Tyler Refrigeration. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. Rev. Abrahamson pastored Walterboro UPC in Walterboro, South Carolina for 13 ½ years, and More Abundant Life Tabernacle in Berrien Springs, Michigan for 18 ½ years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Faye E. Abrahamson; as well as two sisters, Gladys Angell and Sophia Creager.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of nearly sixty years, Bettye Abrahamson of Buchanan; his children, Delonna (Sidney) Stapleton of Berrien Springs, Sharon (Ronald) Ford of Buchanan, Dan Jr. (Stephanie) Abrahamson of Buchanan, Susan (John) Jerkins of Williston, South Carolina, Christy (Michael) Blosser of Niles; fourteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Dan loved taking long drives around God’s beautiful countryside, which he called Canaan Land, with the love of his life. He enjoyed apple picking with the whole family in the Fall. He loved the name of Jesus and preaching Truth. He enjoyed sitting on the front porch reading, especially reading God’s Word. He and his wife enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques and collectibles. He had a love affair with cars, especially Lincolns. He always had a bottle of Pepsi and a bag of potato chips. He taught his family to be faithful to God’s House. If you put your feet under his table, you always went to church and school(and later work). He had a knack for giving his loved ones a special nickname. He was proud of his Swedish heritage and to be an American.

Dan Abrahamson will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Bethel Apostolic Tabernacle, 945 Chippewa Street in Buchanan at 6:00 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning two hours prior.
