Early Life: Don was born May 14, 1929, in Cedar City, Utah, to George and Fern Annona Davis Kleinman, the second of their six children: Preston, Fayone Jonasson, Artis Waston, Melvin, Carolyn “Ruby” Clem. Raised on the family farm in Toquerville, Utah, Don graduated from Hurricane High School in 1928.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: He started working at the Cedar Iron Mine in Iron County, Utah. During this time, he was drafted into the military where he served during the Korean Conflict. Don chose to train as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. Following an honorable discharge, he met Carolyn Sanders, of LaVerkin, Utah; they married December 29, 1953, in the St. George Utah LDS Temple. Six children were born to this 63-year union. Don retired from the Operating Engineers Union where he worked as a welder and heavy duty mechanic for 30+ years. He spent his life working to support and raise his family. The most important thing he taught his children was to have an honorable work ethic. “A man’s word is his bond.” Don Moroni Kleinman peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on the evening of October 25, 2017.
Survived By: His wife; five of six children: Karen Turner, Kevin (Shelli), Scott (Rebecca), Patricia (Neil) Horton, Jeffery (Jill); 26 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: His parents; a son, Larry; granddaughter, Madison; and sister, Carolyn “Ruby” Clem.
