John James Amen, a former resident of Cedar Rapids, died at his home in Northwood, Iowa, early Tuesday.
Mr. Amen had been a banker at Missouri Valley prior to coming to Cedar Rapids where he served as a state bank inspector. He left Cedar Rapids 14 years ago and moved to Northwood where he was in the grocery business until his retirement two years ago.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Miss Edith Amen of Cedar Rapids and two sons, Harlan of Cedar Rapids and Curtis of Mason City. He was born June 11, 1856 at Sinking Spring, Ohio.
Funeral services were held at Northwood at 3 p.m. Wednesday, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Mayo. Burial services will be held at Oak Hill cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at 2 p.m. Thursday in charge of Dr. Robert A. Little, pastor of the First Presbyterian church.
