Carroll Edwin Brown, 72, of Swannanoa, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, April 24, 2009.

Carroll was born in McDowell County. He was the son of the late Joe B. Brown and Wayma B. Brown.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ina Smith Brown; his daughter, Terri Garren of Swannanoa; his son, Keith Brown and wife, Tiphanie four grandchildren, Zack and Colby Brown, Stephanie Lefebvre and husband, Nate of Black Mountain, and Stacy Ogle and husband, Mike of Swannanoa. Carroll was also blessed by two great grandchildren, Addison Michelle Lefebvre and Shelby Alyssa Ogle who joined his family on April 21, 2009. In addition to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren Carroll is survived by two brothers, Joey and Troy Brown of Marion; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved Aunt Betty Burnette of Asheville.

A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 2:00 pm at Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Stone and Rev. Milton Hollifield officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 27, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church in Black Mountain where Carroll was a member. Carroll was also, a deacon, a Sunday school teacher, and the assistant superintendent for Sunday school. Carroll was a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was loved by all who knew him. Carroll will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
