Leonard Louis Vlasak was born on November 20, 1924 on a farm near Crete, in Saline County, Nebraska. He was the only son in a family of six children born to Louis Vlasak & Antonia Jarmilla Kolman. He had three older sisters (Mildred Rose, Viola Libbie, Verna Ileane) and two younger sisters (Dorothy May, Darleen Grace). He farmed his father's land until his death on October 18, 2006 at his home.
