Pauline Harshfield, 88, of Milton-Freewater died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at her home. She was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Shreveport, La. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home chapel in Milton-Freewater. Interment will follow at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery.. Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pauline was born on Jan. 26, 1928, in Shreveport, La., to Jesse and Annie Mae Brown. She and her family moved to Washington state in 1942. Pauline was one of eight siblings. She married John B. Harshfield in 1960, and moved her four children to his fruit farm on Eastside Road with his three sons. Pauline worked as a nurse’s aide locally at several nursing homes and at Stadelman’s packing house. She was a homemaker for seven children and worked in the orchards. Pauline loved the Lord and now she has gone to be with Him. Pauline is survived by her son, Larry Warren; daughters, Pamela Hopper, Debra Burner and Gail Mathews; step-sons, Bill Harshfield, Bob Harshfield and Edward Harshfield; six grandchildren, and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Eulon and Bud Brown; and other relatives and friends. Her parents, husband, John Harshfield; and five sisters preceded her in death.
