Elgin - Funeral for FRED THOMAS BOGGS, 85, Elgin, Okla., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Shorter officiating. Mr. Boggs died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 in a Lawton hospital. Burial will be in Denton Cemetery, east of Lawton.
He was born Nov. 25, 1923, in Lawton, Okla., to Henry Thomas and Rena Faye Miller Boggs. He lived east of Lawton all of his life and attended grade school at Bloomenshine. He was a 1941 graduate of Sterling High School, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Joy Harrison on May 18, 1952, in Lawton. He worked for Oklahoma State Department of Transportation for 25 years, and retired in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Kathleen and Bruce Jones, Comanche, and Karen Allene and J.D. Taylor, Duncan; a son, Thomas Andrew Boggs, Lawton; a sister, Eva Williams, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, T.J., Beverly, Eric and Ginger; and two great-grandchildren, Summer and Mariah.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
