Jonesboro, AR - R. B. McClung, born April 27, 1927, in Pittsboro, Mississippi, went home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2017. R. B. graduated from Memphis State University in 1953 and became a resident of Jonesboro in 1971. He retired from St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. He was past president of the Greater Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Eastern Arkansas Area Council of Boy Scouts of America. He retired as Lt. Commander from the U.S.Navy and Naval Reserve, having served in WWII and Korean Conflict. R.B. was a member and deacon of Central Baptist Church, the Fellowship Class, the Caleb Mountain Climbers, and the Centralaires. Predeceased by his parents, R.B. and Josie McClung; three brothers, Clyde, Frank and Fred McClung; three sisters, Vanie Harrelson, Barbara Wilder and Nell Johnson. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Peggy Lamon McClung of the home, 3 sons: Dr. Keith McClung, Jonesboro, AR, Kevin McClung (Paula), Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Kyle (Vicki) McClung, Bartlett, TN, 3 grandchildren, Kati McClung, Bartlett, TN, Alex McClung, Jonesboro, AR, Hannah McClung, Jonesboro, AR, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Forest Hill Funeral Home East, Memphis, TN on Tuesday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour before.
