J.D. Owned and operated J.D. Alexander Roofing and Painting in Marshall, and he was the caretaker at Fern Lake in Marshall. J.D. was Baptist by faith. He was a United States Navy Veteran. He enjoyed woodworking very much. He also enjoyed playing 42 and Hearts. J.D. loved his dogs, Luckee and Lucy.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Morris Franklin Alexander; one daughter, Mary Sue Ficke; two brothers, Junior Alexander and Kenneth Alexander; two sisters, Ouida Hudson and Billie Ruth Coleman; and one grandson, J.D. Alexander, III.
Survivors include his wife, Delilah Alexander of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, James David Alexander, Jr. and wife Linda of Junction City, Kansas and Kenny Alexander and wife Linda of Minot, North Dakota; three daughters, Wilda Jo Whitehead of Marshall, Elizabeth Jeffers and husband Keith of McLeod, Kansas, and Tammy Jo Alexander of Omaha; one sister, Shirley Wall of Marshall; mother-in-law, Jean Alexander of Marshall; numerous grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; special attendants, Tricia, Belva, Kim, Kayla, and Chandra; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 at Center Cemetery in Harleton, Texas with Chaplain Shiles Hubbell officiating.
