Everett E. Sams Jr, 76, of Waverly, passed from this life at 2:55 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at the Adena Medical Center following an extended illness.

He was born May 27, 1940 in Chillicothe, to the late Everett E. and Georgia Anne (Vandemark) Sams, Sr.

Everett leaves behind his three children; his 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Carol Sams, a sister, Judy Rogers, and his brother, Ronald (John) Sams.

Everett retired from the Mead Corp after working nearly 40 years as a machine operator.

He was a member of the US Trotting Association and was an owner of several Standard bred racing horses.

He was also a lifetime member of the Chillicothe Aerie 600, Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

The family would like to thank Signatures Nursing Home and the Chillicothe Dialysis Center for their care of Dad during his illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at Haller Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from noon until the time of the service on Monday.
