Mr. Elmer Pike was a native of Etowah County and had worked at Coosa Foundry for 15 years and presently owned and operated E.C. Pike Grocery, Route 4, Piedmont. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Lurene Sims Pike. The funeral was at Jones Chapel Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery with Collier-Butler Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. In an apparent robbery attempt Mr. Pike was shot at his home adjacent to his grocery store. Two ex-convicts are being sought. The Gadsden Times has additional details.
