MISHAWAKA - Geneva “Jean” M. Barnes, 83, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016 in Hospice House in South Bend.

Jean was born on April 9, 1933 in South Bend to Louis A. and Agnes A. (Vogel) Tiedge. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy M. Barnes on April 6, 2012 and a brother-in-law, Bill Hutchins.

On August 22, 1953 in Chicago, as the former Geneva Tiedge, she married Gerald F. Barnes, who preceded her in death on September 1, 2004.

Surviving are two sons, James “Jim” (Kathy) Barnes of Phoenix, AZ and Gerald F. “Jerry” Barnes Jr. of Mishawaka; and sisters, Delores Hutchins, Sherry (Lanny) Kizer and Debbie Carlson all of Mishawaka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 21st at 10:30 am in St Pius X Catholic Church, Granger with Monsignor William Schooler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service in the church.

Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka has been entrusted with handling the final arrangements.
