"Owens
Dessie Marie Owens, 76, of Rt. 4, Rutledge, died Thursday, August 30, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville.
A member of Sunrise Baptist Church, she is survived by her husband, Albert Owens; daughters, Lillian Kuykendall, Alberta Brewer, Carolyn Huckaby and Shirley Cameron, all of Rutledge, Charlotte Ellison of Maryville and Johnnie Craven of Georgia; five granddaughters; nine grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Kidwell of Rutledge; brothers, Frank and Claude Bates of Rutledge, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 1, at Smith Funeral Home in Rutledge with Rev. Raymond Long and Rev. Allen Black officiating.
Graveside services were the following morning in Sunrise Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers."
