In February, 2004, I got Casey from the DFW Collie Rescue. I needed a companion for the 2 year old Collie I aready had at home.

He had been in a foster home for nearly a year recovering from Heart Worms and some nasty wounds after being attacked by several other dogs. The happy smile on his face made me pick him over several others and I've never been sorry.

I've had several Collies over the years, but Casey was priceless. He was my "Big Yellow Dog" and he knew that name as well as he did Casey. He was starved for attention, but learned to share it with Jerry, a 2 year old Tri-colored Collie. At that time he was estimated to be between 2 to 2-1/2 years old.

Casey had a way of always being in the center of things, even if it was the middle of the kitchen floor. As he grew older, he searched out more quiet places corners for his naps.

He loved everyone, especially small children. I don't think there was a mean bone in his body. When I walked him down the street, he always had to talk to everyone and say hello! I finally gave up trying to teach him not to bark at other people and dogs while we were walking.

He looked forward to his daily walks and we were still taking them up to two weeks ago. As he got older he preferred only walking with me. He simple would not walk for other family members.

Casey you left a big hole in my heart as well as the other family members! You will truly be missed!

You know I was very tired
so God decided today
to call me back to heaven
where all the other dogs play.

But for those of you who knew me
I was really not a dog
just one of God's special angels
sent to help you know of love.

So bless all of you who touched my life
in some way or another
I will send down special love to you
from my chair up here in heaven.

And now we lay you down to sleep
You're finally at rest
Our love for you we'll always keep
You were the very best
You gave us joy for all those years
A memory for each new day
Then came the day of all my fears
The day you passed away
A part of us you took with you
And I can't stand the pain
But when this life on earth is through
I know we'll meet again.
