Lost at Sea when the fishing schooner Northern Chief was struck and sunk by the British steamer Bosphorus along with his brother-in-law John Lindsey. The Northern Chief was owned by Winslow's father, Capt. Watson Y. Hopkins

According to the Nathan Hale Cemetery Collection, he was born on 31 Jul 1858. According to census records, he was born in ME.

According to the ME Death Records, he died on 30 Aug 1896 in Vinalhaven, Knox, ME; and his parents were Winslow and Mary Hopkins (Winslow R. Hopkins and Mary Lindsey). He is with his parents in the US census records for 1860-1880.

There currently is no stone pictured on the FAG record, and I have requested that one be added. According to the Nathan Hale Cemetery Collection, he was buried in the John Carver Cemetery in Vinalhaven, Knox, ME.
