Francis was a Pvt in the Army - Canadian Infantry (Western Ontario Regiment) - 1st Bn. in WWI. While taking part in the attack on enemy positions at Abancourt, he was hit in the head and instantly killed by a bullet from an enemy machine gun. He was buried in HAYNECOURT BRITISH CEMETERY Nord France under the memorial number 24736029. His parents placed a head stone in Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery as well. Francis was not married at the time of his death.
