Alice M. Derry, 76, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. She was born February 3, 1940 in Manhattan, KS, the daughter of Nils and Nelma (Springer) Rignell.
Alice graduated from St. George High School in 1958.
Alice was employed by the State of Kansas for 41 years before retiring 2002.
Alice married Leroy Burton. He preceded her in death on October 1, 1980. They had two sons.
Alice married Denzyl V. Derry. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2009.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Anna, Ellen and Judy.
Survivors include her children, Steven (Sherry) Burton of Topeka, Ronald (Dianna) Burton of Topeka, Christina (Jeremy) Rakestraw of Silver Lake, 11 grandchildren, Tara, Samantha, Tyler, Kayla, Kelli, Jonathan, Joseph, Colton, Kristen, Justin and Allison, 6 great-grandchildren, Garret, Addyson, Jordan, Brogan, Dominik and Jaelyn and her siblings, Elsie Miller, Darlene Alexander and Bobby Rignell.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Inurnment will follow in Holton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
