About 4 o'clock, Sunday PM, July 24, Fred Gleason of Kane, went to home of John Cleveland 7 1/2 miles west of White Hall to get Mr. C. to accompany him home. On failing to find Mr. C. he came back to home of Roy Young, close neighbor and the two together with Charles Cotter hastened to home of Mr. C. and finding the screens hooked from inside, they burst open a screen and found Mr. C. dead in bed. Inquest held Monday, verdict of jury was death from apoplexy. Deceased was born March 12, 76 years ago at Mt. Sterling, Brown County, Illinois, son of Benjamin Cleveland, a Baptist minister. For more than 50 years he had been a resident of Greene County and greater part of that time in Walkerville township, survived by an aged brother; William Cleveland of Bluffdale township and one daughter Mrs. Florence Sheppard and two grandsons of St. Louis, funeral at Walkerville Church, burial in the Walkerville Cemetery.
