John Howard Hess, aged 59, of Caledonia, formerly of East Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he loved, on Monday, September 25, 2006. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Bartlett Hess, and brother, Daniel Hess. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cheri; sons, Kevin (Cydney) Hess, Jeffrey Hess, Peter (Amy) Hess, Jeremy (Sarah) Hess; mother, Margaret Hess; sisters, Janet Hess, Deborah Morsink; many nieces and nephews. John was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and uncle. He was born in Berwyn, Illinois in 1946. John served our country in the US Navy where he met his wife, Cheri, while serving in Korea. They married in 1971 and had four sons. He has been a member of Kentwood Community Church for the last 15 years where he has served as an Elder and a Sunday School Teacher. John was a partner at the Hess, Hess, & Kmetz Law Firm for 26 years. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Kentwood Community Church, 1200 - 60th Street SE, with Rev. Chuck Roost officiating. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery.
