Obed (Obadiah) Brooker was born in Singleton (Patricks' Plains), New South Wales on 27 July, 1868. He was one of nine children of Henry Brooker and Susannah Lucy Brooker (nee Huntley). Obed worked as a drover and bullock driver. He married Sarah Flick in 1897. They had seven children. In 1910 Obed and his family moved to the Maleny area, where they engaged in dairy farming. They subsequently moved to farms at Eumundi and Kin Kin and by 1926 they were residing in Cooran. In the late 1940s Obed and Sarah retired to Woombye, where Obed died in February 1968 at the age of ninety nine.
