Wm Henry ORR served in the military and then became a law enforcement official (policeman 1850. officer 1855), a gentleman (1860), and then a ship joiner (1865). I acquired his burial info from https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2WQN-GSN. He married my 4g-aunt Charlotte POWLEY in South Hempstead, NY, in 1832. She was the daughter of Francis Joseph (or Joseph Frances) POWLEY (anglicized from François POLLÉE though he's identified with other surname variants in early NY censuses.) We Powley descendants have known for years that he was a Frenchman who came to America with Rochambert under Lafayette's command to fight in the American Revolution. Only recently have I connected Francis Joseph (or Joseph Frances) POWLEY to François POLLÉE of Dampierre-sur-Loire, Saumur, France.

According to censuses, Wm and Charlotte had 6 children: Ann, Josephine, Cornelia (who appears as Caroline in 1850), Wm Jr, Edwin, and Charlotte. Censuses suggest that Ann may have died before 1865. Of the other children, Edwin is buried in Cypress Hills...as are his parents and Charlotte's sister Mariah, wife of Deacon Joseph Waterbury. I am seeking descendants of Wm H and Charlotte (Powley) Orr and Mariah (Powley) Waterbury.
